The case of the aging population

The case of the aging population

The aging of the population is a significant issue in the world. And,The aging of the population has brought many problems. For example, on the one hand, the pressure on public finances has increased. The elderly population is increasing year by year, and the demand for elderly care, medical and social services continues to grow. Moreover, the elderly do not need to work, but they need pensions. On the other hand, the aging population also has a greater impact on adjusting the industrial structure. Due to the decline in intelligence, the ability of the elderly to accept new things declines, and the ability to innovate is insufficient, which is not conducive to the adjustment of the industrial structure.

What causes the aging of the population? There are lots of reasons that lead to this reason. First of all, this issue is related to human fertility. Some countries want to control excessive population growth and reduce the pressure on economic and social development caused by population. Therefore, many countries have implemented family planning. For example, China has implemented family planning since the 1980s, which has significantly reduced the fertility level of the whole society. Secondly, with the rapid economic growth, the advancement of science and technology, the improvement of people’s medical conditions, and the improvement of living standards, the life span of human beings has been dramatically extended.

Of course, there are many ways to solve this problem. First of all, the government should encourage childbirth, fundamentally increase the number of the labor force, and solve the problem of aging. Second, the retirement system can be altered appropriately. Delaying the statutory retirement age allows the elderly to continue to use their residual heat at work. Thus, they are ultimately alleviating the adverse effects of aging. Third, the layout of the elderly industry and the development of the elderly product market not only meet the needs of the elderly but at the same time can better serve the elderly.
